Slow down, slow down Let me tell you the story about the fool & the candle….. Gave me such a fright, it did, watching you living the life you lived You ran through it all, with nothing to show for it all & I’d think to myself, why couldn’t you slow down? Why didn’t you slow down? Well you sauntered down the halls of my life, & what gave you the right? Well, I gave you the right! & you screamed down the walls of my life, yes you did! What gave you the right? I think I gave you the right! I’d have given you everything you’d ever asked for I’d have given you everything you your hearts desires I’d have given you everything you’d ever asked for & more There was nothing I longed for, there was nothing I wanted other than you There was nothing, there was nothing I wanted other than you There was nothing I wanted more than you I’ll see you on the other side now & I think to myself now…hey beautiful, slow down I fell in love with you, my hurricane, slow down my little mess in the rain My little mess in the rain My little mess in the rain Five, four, three, two one, ready or not now here I come Why didn’t you slow down? Five, four, three, two one, here I come, ready or not now here I come Ready or not now here I come Ready or not now here I come

Can you feel the trouble, look at all this mess were in I know you don’t like advice, but take cover from the landslide I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna know Sometimes I don’t even, I don’t even care & I’m not even sure if I can drag my soul across the line I don’t care to admit to who you think I am! I’m so sorry about the man I used to be! You planted me so sturdy now in a golden field & clothed me head to toe in jewels of blue & green I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna know Sometimes I don’t even, I don’t even care & I’m not even sure if I can drag my soul across the line I’m trying to hear every word they say & to whom I’m at a major disadvantage, I’m listening from another room! So in love & skimming stones, I never was alone Then a raincloud came along & threw shadows on us both I’m trying to hear every word they say & to whom I’m at a major disadvantage, I’m listening in from another room! For what it’s worth, you can have my heart It’ll never be the same, it’ll never beat the same again!
3.
The lining of this cloud ain’t silver I see your face in every daydream & tears in every mirror I’ve got to find my way home I still talk to you in my sleep, then I dream you answer me in whispers Oh what I’d give to hear your lovely whispers The rain keeps pouring down You know me & you know I won’t, have it any other way! The rain keeps pouring down You know me & you know I won’t, have it any other way! The rain keeps pouring down You know me & you know I won’t, have it any other way! The rain keeps pouring down You know me & you know I won’t, have it any other way! Any other way! The rain keeps pouring down You know me & you know I won’t, have it any other way! The lining of this cloud’s not silver I hear your laugh in every crowd, see your face on every corner I still talk to you in my sleep See you in the sleep

You know I fall down at your feet You know I love your kisses sweet I cry out the hallelujah While everyone around me thinks ain’t that peculiar? Ain’t that peculiar? Ain’t that peculiar? Ain’t that peculiar? Ain’t that peculiar? Ain’t that peculiar? Ain’t that peculiar?
5.
Hey, it’s been a long time! Let me ask you, did I ever cross your mind? Not a day went by, you weren’t on mine! You weren’t on mine It’s been a long time! It’s been a long time! Hey, it’s been a long time! Let me ask you, did I ever cross your mind? Not a day went by, you weren’t on mine! You weren’t on mine You weren’t on mine It’s been a long time, did I ever cross your mind?

about

New musical offering from Ben Johns & Matt Cahill, AKA- EVOLETAH.
Written over a three-year period of time, an instinctive use of mood & atmosphere is employed to meld with themes that explore love & loss.

"They'll never get a party started,
but if you're in the mood to have your heart broken,
they'll do the job nicely"!

‘Calliope dreaming’

In a world where likes & followers are the new currency, it’s a welcome surprise to hear a band that is not following the tides and currents. Evoletah are doing it on their terms. They borrow from the past, add their sparkles and twists, and make it their own.
‘Calliope dreaming ‘is the latest chapter in the Evoletah tome. It feels like an artist at work on a blank canvas, building the nuances & subtleties as the works progress. As if each deft stroke of the brush has its own purpose in the grand scheme. It’s an album made for a lost generation, from another time.
Pulsing jazz-infused bass and swinging drums collude with effortless piano runs from Ben Johns & lush strings to create a panoramic palate for Matt Cahill to narrate his noir-like lullabies. He leads us down a path of emotions with his tales of love, loss & hope.
It feels effortless at times. The uplifting child-like feel on the title track.  Sunny days without a care in the world, yet underneath there is a longing for confession. The dark aching corners of “Been a long time”. ‘The fool & the candle’ has a grandiose cinematic feel. A song you don’t want to finish.
‘Calliope dreaming’ manages to block out the modern digital world & mutes the white noise. It gives the listener a window to escape through. To run through the fields and wander down the dusty paths, with the breeze in your face.
